Auditor General Slams CRA Tax Appeals Delays

The report of the Canadian auditor general in November 2016 found unacceptable delays in CRA processing of Notices of Objection, which are tax appeals from tax audits. The auditor general found that CRA did not adequately process Notices of Objection (tax appeals) on a timely basis and did not adequately measures its performance results. The report had 8 recommendations, all of which CRA accepted. Inefficiencies in CRA’s process caused delays in resolving notices of objection. CRA has committed to developing an action plan to reduce the backlog of notices of objection.
