Uber Drivers will have to Register for GST/HST

As a result of the 2017 Federal Budget drivers of shared economy ride sharing services such as Uber and Lyft will be required to register for GST/HST regardless of their level of revenue, in other words the small supplier rules for sales of under $30,000 will not apply to them. The ride sharing companies which actually do the billing will have to provide accounting to their drivers and will have to remit the GST/HST as part of their payments to their drivers.
