CBC radio host Amanda Pfeffer asks tax lawyer and chartered accountant David Rotfleisch to analyze the federal government’s announcement about how the strike of 155,000 federal employees (including 55,000 employees of Canada Revenue Agency) will affect tax season 2023.HINT:  No extension of the filing deadline is not a wise move because CRA employees are not working and cannot answer taxpayers’ questions. Taxpayers are left in a double-jeopardy position:  either file late (with penalties) or file their returns incorrectly/incompletely (with possible penalties).
