Lancan Investments Inc v The Queen_ (2015 TCC 27) was the latest battleground in the war on Canada Revenue Agency’s (“CRA”) aggressive behavior and resulted in a small victory for taxpayers who face overbroad allegations from CRA, which continues to insist that it has the right to go on “fishing expeditions”. CRA was ordered to provide the particulars requested by the taxpayer and ordered to pay $8,000 in costs.
