Lawyer Licensing Candidate
Juan Carlos Díaz García is a Lawyer Licensing Candidate with Rotfleisch & Samulovitch P.C. (Taxpage.com), having completed his articling term with the firm. He brings more than 15 years of tax-related professional experience spanning Colombia and Canada.
Before joining the firm, Juan Carlos worked in Bogotá with Colombia’s National Tax and Customs Authority (DIAN) and later with leading law and accounting firms, advising domestic and multinational clients on cross-border transactions, corporate tax planning and regulatory compliance. He subsequently gained experience in Toronto tax practice, including international tax structuring, transfer pricing and CRA risk management.
Juan Carlos holds an LL.B. from Universidad Externado de Colombia and two Master of Laws degrees in Taxation — from Osgoode Hall Law School, focused on Canadian Common Law and Taxation, and the University of Florida Levin College of Law, focused on International Taxation. Drawing on tax law experience across civil-law and common-law systems, he brings a unique perspective to complex tax matters. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
His interest in helping taxpayers navigate difficult tax disputes is also personal. An early experience assisting his family through a tax assessment helped shape his interest in tax law and in helping taxpayers facing audits, appeals and compliance challenges.
During his articling term with the firm, Juan Carlos worked on voluntary disclosures, CRA audit responses, tax research and litigation support for Tax Court matters, while further developing his experience in tax disputes, corporate tax, GST/HST and cross-border tax.
Outside the office, Juan Carlos enjoys Toronto’s sports and cultural community, attending Blue Jays games and participating in NCA mentorship initiatives.
